Ever since my childhood, I have been crazy about gaming. I belong to the generation when gamers were imagined to be hooded guys sitting in a pitch-black room with ghastly dark circles under their eyes and a gamepad in their hands. Believe me, I was no different. I used to spend a major part of my day playing and winning. I used to win… win like a lion, every time.

My friends had come to believe that I was unbeatable. I thought that too. I wanted to be the best gamer in the world. But the universe has something else planned for me.

I was 23 when my life took an unfortunate turn. My dad lost his life in a brutal car accident. The responsibility of my mom and my 3 little sisters fell right on my head and the 'gaming beast' in me ended up selling electronic products in a little shop. I am a tech-guy. The second option for me would have been somewhere in an IT firm. Ah, well! But, things have not changed entirely. The craze in me has not died yet. I still am a pro gamer, only the passion to be world-famous has gotten a little dimmer.

Lately, I have been watching kids spending heaps of money on PC games. Why should we put a price tag on the fun? It was last summer when I got this bright idea to share my knowledge of gaming, gaming equipment and reviews with people who share the same interest as mine.

Tomb Raider is a the reboot of the Lara Croft adventure series, and it's fantastic. It's a kind of origin story, with a Lara who starts out much more vulnerable and less assured than the original. Great graphics and plenty of action and drama await. While the puzzling and tombs are present in the new Tomb Raider, there's much more to this game.

Combat is much improved, and there are more activities, like hunting, to do. Lara can now be 'upgraded' as she gains experience in the game. The opening relies a lot on cut scenes and quick-time events, but eventually the game settles in to more solid gameplay. It's a lot more violent than earlier games. Tomb Raider has an excellent one player campaign, and the obligatory multiplayer tacked on. This isn't a game you'll buy for multiplayer, but thankfully the single player more than makes up for it.

Once you've got through the opening scenes, which are very exciting, but don't require much skill, Tomb Raider starts to develop. Lara is still great fun to control, but this time she sounds like she's putting much more effort into her climbing and jumping. Lara is much less of a superhero in Tomb Raider, and it feels like she's still learning.

Controls are well implemented for general gameplay, but some of the quicktime events don't feel right. However, the gameplay overall easily matches that of Uncharted. Since the beginning, Tomb Raider games have had great looking environments, and this time is no exception.
